DSI Telemetry Repeaters - Now Available

For researchers who need to conduct studies in a group housed environment and/or need to have telemetry transmitted over longer ranges, DSI offers multi-frequency telemetry Repeaters.

The Repeater functions as a signal relay between a PhysioTel® Transmitter and a Repeater receiver for large animal telemetry information applications. Making it possible to house up to eight (8)* different animals in a facility with large pens, multi-frequency telemetry Repeaters offer greater flexibility and capabilities in cage design, housing and data acquisition as compared to standard transmitter-receiver options.

Each Repeater transmits at a unique frequency and is paired with a corresponding Repeater receiver, greatly reducing the potential for cross-talk. DSI provides different frequency Repeater models to allow researchers to study animals in close proximity with one another. And because the Repeater utilizes higher frequencies when transmitting, it is possible to have a greater distance between the implanted animal and its receiver. This makes DSI’s multi-frequency telemetry Repeaters ideal for use with dog runs or primate enclosures as well as with livestock such as swine, cows, horses, sheep, etc.

DSI offers many sizes and shapes of the multi-frequency telemetry Repeater. The electronic components of each are the same but the size and shape facilitate their use with various large animal species.

Each animal is implanted with a PhysioTel® Transmitter and outfitted with a Repeater that has an individually configured Repeater receiver associated with it. The PhysioTel® Transmitter transmits a localized signal that is detected by the animal’s Repeater. This signal is then re-transmitted by the Repeater and recognized by the appropriate Repeater receiver, which introduces the signal to the data acquisition system. No time delay is introduced into the process because of the Repeater involvement in signal relay.

DSI provides two hardware models of the telemetry Repeater. One attaches to a collar, jacket or harness; the other is a collar specifically for primate study. Each Repeater has short-range and long-range modes of operation.

*Eight (8) frequencies are available for U.S. and Canada customers; four (4) frequencies are available for Europe customers.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC rules and Industry Canada RSS 210.  Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference and (2) this device must accept any interference that may cause undesired operation.
